The students of BS Chemistry appeared in the viva voce examination on Thursday, 11th December, 2014 and successfully defended their research theses. The panel of examiners comprised of the following teachers:

A farewell party was also arranged which was graced by the participation of Prof. Javed Akhtar Billah, Principal GMC, Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq and Dr. M. Nadeem Zaffar. Dr. M. Ishfaq Ghori, Hafiz Abdul Jalil, Dr. Mujahid Bukhari, Mr. Kashif Younas Butt and Mr. Faiz Miran were also present there along with the research students. Dr. Mujahid Bukhari welcomed the guests and congratulated the students on successful completion of their research projects. He also acknowledged the support by the Director General PCSIR, Lahore and University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, for provision of reseach facilities in their respective insititutions. Dr. M.Ishfaq Ghori extended his best wishes to the students and appreciated the worthy principal for his kind support to the Department. At the end, Prof. Javed Akhtar Billah appreciated the Department of Chemistry for its excellent academic activities and extended his full support for research activities. He wished the students success in their lives.

Transfer/Posting News

* Prof. Muhammad Ashfaq Qureshi has been appointed as Principal, Government Allama Iqbal P/G College, Sialkot. He took over the charge of his office on 23-12-2015. 

* Prof. Tariq Mehmood, Department of English, took over the charge of Vice Principal, Government Murray College, Sialkot, on 23-12-2015. 

Prof. Zahid Hussain, Department of Chemistry joined as Principal, Cadet College, Pasrur, on deputation. He joined his duties on 01-01-2016.

All the staff congratulates the colleagues on their achievements.

A program was arranged on 22nd January, 2016 to celebrate these achievements of the colleagues. All the staff members participated in this event. Souviners were awarded to Prof. Ashfaq Qureshi, Prof. Tariq Mrehmood, Prof. Zahid Hussain and Dr. M. Nawaz Mirza. Prof. Anwar Malik was also awarded with a souvenir on his retirement. He retired from service on 5th January 2016.

 

Department of Mathematics arranged a Seminar on Nuclear and Radiation Safety in Pakistan

 

A seminar on Nuclear and Radiation Safety in Pakistan" was organised by Department of Mathematics, GMC in collaboration with Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA), Islamabad on April 19,2016. Eminent Scientists Asad Ejaz and Kamran Siraj from PNRA addressed the students and staff on the issue. Prof. Javed Akhtar Billah (Principal), Prof. Aslam Shakir (HoD) and Prof. Naeed Ahmed also expressed thier views.

GMC Star Muhammad Sharjeel stood 2nd in BISE Gujranwala in F.Sc.

Mr. Muhammad Sharjeel s/o Dr. Fayyaz Ahmed Roll No. 111296 secured 1041 marks & stood 2nd in BISE Gujranwala. He got overall 1st position among boys and 1st in Pre-Medical group (Boys). A Prize Distribution ceremony was held in honor of position holders of Intermediate Examination, 2015 in Multi Purpose Hall of BISE Gujranwala. The Principal GMC Prof. Javed Akhtar Billah was especially invited by Board's administration to this graceful ceremony. So a delegation comprising of The Principal-Prof. Javed Akhtar Bllah, Prof. M. Ishaq Bajwa, Dr. Mujahid Bukhari, Prof. Irfan Rauf Butt and Prof. Nadeem Islam Sulehri joined the function and met to the Chairman, Secretary, Controller of Examinations and other officials. Mr. Muhammad Sharjeel was awarded Silver Medal during the ceremony. He participated along with his family in this function and got a lot of appreciation from the participants.

Prize Distribution Ceremony held in Murray College

22-09-2015: A Prize Distribution Ceremony was held in the historic Mir Hasan Hall of GMC which was honored by the presence of Secretay Higher Education Honorable Irfan Ali as Chief Guest. The program was chaired by the Principal Prof. Javed Akhtar Billah who gave a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, and other guests of honor and participants. The program was especially arranged to celebrate the excellent performance of FSc student of GMC, Mr. Muhammad Sharjeel in Intermediate Examination 2015 who stood 2nd overall and 1st in boys in BISE Gujranwala. In his welcome address, the Principal paid thanks to the Secretary H/E Mr. Irfan Ali for sparing his precious time for this function. He wecomed parents of Mr. Sharjeel and other students as well who got top positions in Masters and BS levels in their respective disciplines. He briefed about achievements of Murray College. He also announced to give a car if a student gets 1st position in board or university next year.

The Secretary H/E addressed the audience and announced to expeditethe allocation of a piece of land for new campus of Murray College. He said that it was a great honor for him visit Murray College- the Alma Mater of Great philosopher poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He emphasized the importance of education in life. He gave away key of HONDA 100 motorbike managed by the college, and a shield to Mr. Sharjeel on his brilliant achievement . The toppers of each discipline also received prizes and certificates during the ceremony.

The Principal presented a shield to the Honorable Chief Guest. A copy of Murray College Chemistry Magazine Chem@Murray was also presented to him by its Editor Dr. Mujahid Bukhari.

 

The program was joined by a number of guests, parents, staff and male and female students of Murray College, jointly hosted by Prof. M. Ishaq Bajwa, Prof. Mehr Muhammad Ilyas and Prof. Nadeem Islam Sulehri.

BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION ORGANISED GREAT DEBATE 2015 AT GMC

Sialkot, Oct. 15, Thursday. The British High Commission organized Great Debate Sialkot, 2015 at Murray College (GMC), Sialkot. Students from various educational institutions of the city participated in the event. The largest numbers of the participants were from Murray College. Over 25 students of the college participated in the competition. Junaid Khalid of English Department, GMC won the debating competition. The runners-up was Warda Ateeq Khan of Statistics Department. Ben French, Director Political Affairs, Department for International Development (DIFD),UK distributed shields and prizes among the winners of the competition.

In his address, Mr. French appreciated the efforts of Prof. Javed Akhtar Billah, the Principal of the College, for organizing the competition nicely. He said the future of Pakistan lies in the hands of the youth of this country. Prof. Shahzad Khokhar, Prof. Tauseef ul Haq and Prof. Yasir Baig adjudicated the event while Prof. Nasir Hamid Hameedi conducted the function nicely.

BS students visited PUIC, FC College University and PCSIR Labs Lahore

Students of BS Chemistry 7th semester visited Institute of Chemistry, PU, PCSIR Labs. Lahore and FC College, University under the supervision of Dr. Mujahid Bukhari and Prof. Muhammad Imran. different instruments and research facilities in these institutions were introduced. The students were welcomed in PU by Prof. Dr. Makshoof Athar-Director Institute of Chemistry. Mr. Salman elaborately demonstrated the instruments there.

The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Ehsan Ul Haq-Deputy Quality Manager, Dr. Zia-ur-Rehman, Dr. Amjad Ayub Bhatti, Dr. Naeem Khan and others in PCSIR Laboratories Complex. Acting DG Dr. Sakhawat Ali introduced the students to different R & D activities of the organization.

In FC College University, Dr. Amjid Iqbal welcomed the visirors and introduced faculty members to the Chairperson, Prof. Dr. Dildar Hussain and other legends of Chemistry, namely Prof. Dr. Christy Munir and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed Iqbal. He highlighted different programs and research projects available in FCCU. Dr. Christry and Dr. Saeed Iqbal also addressed the students. A presentation was arranged by Speers Chemical Society FCCU. Mr. Qaiser, Ms Mariam Shafqat and Ms Farwa Shahid addressed the audience and shared their views and research work. Dr. Mujahid Bukhari thanked the Chairperson, Department of Chemistry, FCCU,and Dr. Amjid Iqbal for giving opportunity to the students of GMC to visit FCCU. A demonstration was also delivered on different scientific instruments installed there.

 

The students were really impressed and inspired by meeting to great scientists and  enjoyed the visit.

De-nationalization of GMC not acceptable, says PPLA

November 10, 2015. A rally was launched by the staff and students, both male and female, against the proposed de-nationalization of Government Murray College, Sialkot. The rally was organised by Punjab Professors & Lecturers Association (PPLA) from the college to Sialkot Press Club in which participants chanted slogans against this unwise decision of the Punjab Government to hand over the college to private sector.
